John Denver, a singer-songwriter born in Colorado who specialized in folk music, was a hit with millions of fans. He was born Henry John Deutschendorf Jr. in Roswell New Mexico he fell in love with Colorado and later settled in Aspen. Denver's songs that he sang about his adopted state inspired many people to move to Colorado. G. Brown the curator of Colorado Music Hall of Fame has stated in his report that John Denver was the best performer in capturing Colorado. Denver became the initial Hall of Fame inductee in 2011. Denver is the symbol of Colorado for many people throughout the world. In my journeys, you meet someone from the other end of the planet, someone of New Zealand and you say 'I'm from Colorado and the first word that comes out of their mouth is"Oh John Denver! Brown stated. Take Me Home Country Roads was co-written by Bill Danoff and Denver after his brief stint in folk groups which was Denver's first Top 10 solo hit. Danoff had originally written the tune with Johnny Cash's music in mind, but Denver knew from the first moment he heard earlier versions that the track would become a major hit. The song was performed in Washington D.C. to a large audience, Denver recorded it just days later.
