April Ross
April Ross has won more than one Olympic gold medal. She is one of a few female players of beach volleyball to have achieved this feat. She is set to compete in Tokyo to compete for her third Olympic gold medal along with Alix Klineman, a first-time Olympian. Ross aims to earn the Olympic the first medal of gold but she is also aiming to earn even more. As she turns 39, it could be her last chance to win the Olympic gold. However, she's convinced that top prizes can be achieved. Ross stated to NBC Boston that if they are at their absolute best or play a great game and they are able to play well, the team will be able to win the gold medal. In addition, I'll try the opportunity to try my luck. Ross was born in 1982 and was raised in Costa Mesa California with her siblings and parents, started competing in athletics at Newport Harbor High School. Ross competed in many sports while attending Newport Harbor High School. Her prep athletic career included indoor volleyball along with basketball as well as track and running. While she did well when playing indoors but it was apparent that her skills were above average. Her college biography states that she was an outside-hitting hitter middle blocker, as well as a setter during her volleyball career in high school. The results of her efforts were acknowledged in 1999 when she was named Gatorade's National Circle of Champions Players of the Year. The 2000 Orange County Athlete of the Month award was also won by her in volleyball. Ross is currently playing alongside Klineman since the year 2017. However, Ross's beach game was established well before this. As a matter of fact Ross has been a winner of several significant tournaments during her time with two partners. One of them is a volleyball legend. From 2007 to 2013 she teamed alongside Jennifer Kessy who more recently served as her and Klineman's coach. Together with Kessy Ross, she was a major force in the world circuit, winning a world title in 2009. The duo eventually captured a silver medal at the 2012 Olympic Games in London. Misty Maytreanor (Jennings) and Misty Maytreanor won gold, overtaking them. Ross Jennings was the replacement for May-Treanor as she retired. The team won bronze in beach volleyball at the Rio Olympics 2016. Ross participated in the USC Trojans in college years after she graduated in high school. Ross's Trojans experience was remarkable. She was an All-American as well as Pac-10 Freshman of the Year in 2000 as a young freshman. The Trojans were also able to get to the Final Four with her help. Her personal life was tense after a devastating defeat in her sophomore year yet was capable of achieving the All-American distinction. In her two final years with the Trojans she was instrumental in helping them to win two consecutive titles. Individually she had cemented her place as a legend having won the 2003-04 Honda Sports Award as the most outstanding female college volleyball player. Ross majored at USC in International Relations. Margie Ross was never able to see her daughter's climb to the beach volleyball spotlight. Ross's mom Margie passed away in 2001 when Ross was an USC sophomore. She had breast cancer. She has kept her parents close to her heart. Margie has inspired her in her life and on the beaches.
